Pro-life legislation passed by the House is at risk of defeat in the Senate if leaders don’t allow it for a vote.
Two letters have been signed by statewide faith leaders and local area pastors and were delivered to Senate President Don Gaetz today to request his support for pro-life issues that have still not been added to the Senate agenda.
Last week the Florida House of Representatives passed HB 1129 and HB 759.
HB 1129 places increased safeguards towards providing healthcare to infants born alive during a botched abortion, and HB 759 places protections for unborn victims of violence when a perpetrator kills or harms women who are pregnant.
Earlier this session, Senate President Gaetz was reported to say that his local constituents did not mention life legislation in their priorities when he knocked on doors over that weekend. The letter he received on Friday is a clear message from his local constituents that pro-life legislation is indeed a priority and should not be neglected during this Legislation Session.
Recognizing Senator Gaetz’s position of respect, local faith leaders and pastors are asking him to allow these good bills to come before the Senate for a vote.
