Pastors from Senator Gaetz’s district plead with him to hear pro-life legislation
Pastors unite to ask Senate President Gaetz to hear pro-life legislation.
Dear Senate President Gaetz,
As pastors united from Okaloosa and Walton Counties, we would like to thank you for your efforts on behalf ofthe state of Florida this legislative session. We are encouraged that this past week several prolife bills were passed through the House of Representatives including the HB 876 – Offenses Against Unborn Children which passed with a 74-43 vote. We believe that valuing and protecting all life is of paramount importance and the best way to ensure social and economic well being in the state of Florida.
We would like to request that this bill, which will support justice for women and the lives of their unborn, please be added to your “Priority List” for passage this legislative session. We understand that SB 876, the companion bill to HB 759, has passed two committees in the Senate and has not been withdrawn from the Justice Committee in the Senate. In addition, Governor Scott has voiced his support of this legislation, should it make it to his desk. We feel sure it would have great success if given the opportunity to come to the Senate floor.
This past week many from around the state gathered for Celebration of Life day at the Capitol. One of your constituents from Destin, Kitti Hataway, representing Personhood Florida, shared with us that she was part of a group that came to visit with you in your office to express the need for this legislation to pass. As you know, there are several cases right now in Florida where women and their unborn have been murdered such as the case recently in Tallahassee where a young man murdered his girlfriend and then proceeded to cut the baby out of her womb to make certain the baby was deceased too.
This legislation, if passed, would ensure that those who attack and kill women who are pregnant would be charged with the death of two, instead of one. We humbly unite as Pastors standing for all life from the panhandle of Florida to request that you will include SB 876 to your list priorities.
